Pak vs SL :PCB announces test squad for Sri Lanka series

LAHORE:The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced an 18 members test squad for the upcoming test series against Sri Lanka.

Leg spinner Yasir shah and all rounder Nawaz have returned to the test squad for upcoming test series against Sri Lanka, chief Selector Muhammad Waseem announced on Wednesday.

Pakistan will play their first test against Sri Lanka hosts at Galle from July 16, while the second test will start in Colombo on July 24.

Before the formal start of the series the visitors will play a three day warm up match from July 11.

The test squad named for the latest ICC World Test Championship fixtures include three openers, four middle order batters, three all rounders , two wicket keepers, two spinners and four fast bowlers.
Chief Selectors Muhammad Waseem said they have selected this squad considering the conditions in Sri Lanka and have equipped the team with best possible resources.

Defending Salman Ali Agha,s inclusion in the team , Waseem said the player shown the consistent performance for the last three seasons and he is handy off  spinn option.

Pakistan,s Test ranking for Pakistan who are fifth ranking on the spot, this series is their final away commitment of the current ICC World Championship cycle, which stretches from July 2021 to June 2023, and they will eager to improve their position on the table  repeating the same results as last time with a series win.

Pakistan will have to play three series in the current cycle and with wins in three tests and two draws are ranked fifth in the nine-team table.

In the upcoming 2022-2023 Pakistan are set to host against England and New Zealand for three and two tests in bumper home international season.
