The joy did, not last long for Sri Lanka on Tuesday  . A sizeable crowed despite all the hardships, and good star from the top three .

It looks like earlier in the match Sri Lankan were top of the list to win this match. But it turned out to be a flickers as the losing the first T20I match against Australia by 10 Wickets who reached the target of 129 runs with 36 balls to left.


The Australian openers David Warner and Aaron Finch smashed half centuries in an impressive 10 Wickets win against Sri Lanka in the first T20I in Colombo on Tuesday.

The visitors eased to 134-0 in 14 overs, chasing just 129 for victory, after a brilliant Josh Hazelwood spell restricted the hosts to 128 all out in 19.3 overs.

Earlier Australia skipper Finch won the toss and asked Sri Lanka to bat first in rain hit Colombo.

Sri Lanka got off to a very good start, posting 39 in 4.2 overs.The hosts then raced to 100 in 12 overs, losing only 2 wickets.


But the visitors hit back Charith Asalanka (38) was the only other Sri Lankan batter except for the openers Patham Nissanka (36) Danushka Gunathilka (26) to cross the 20-run mark.

In a reply Australian pacers Mitchell Starc (3/26) and Josh Hazelwood (4/16)  stop Sri Lankan batting to a short target of 129.

Two ducks , those of Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Dasun Shanaka, and the wicket of Kusal Mendis to Hazelwood in the 14th over turned the mat h situation.

Australian openers Finch and Warner play a brilliant knock and beat Sri Lanka by 10 Wickets.

The Finch (61) and the Warner (70) toyed with the Sri Lanka bowlers.

This was Australia,s 11 win in 12 matches against Sri Lanka in T20Is . The win also helped the reigning world champions take a 14-9 lead in the head-to-head record. 

Josh Hazelwood was named player of the match, and the pacer reflected on the conditions.

"It is obviously quite hot here, quite sweaty. Wicket is slow, but u can use your advantage," he said.


The second T20I is scheduled for Wednesday, Starting at 7:PM IST.

In a T20I World Cup year, Sri Lanka will need to find answer quickly.
