Pakistan beat West indies by 5 Wickets in first ODI at Multan

 Multan: Pakistan beat West indies by 5 Wickets because of thrilling knock of Skipper Baber Azam and Khush Dil Shah at Multan.

Pakistan Skipper became the first batter to knock the three successive one day international hundreds twice win over the West indies in Multan on Wednesday.

Baber Azam cracked a brilliant 107 ball of 103 runs with 9 boundaries to help Pakistan to chase the tough target 306 in 49.2 overs.

Opener Shai Hope knocked a  134 ball for 127 of his 12th centuries.

The win give Pakistan a 1-0 lead in the three match ODI Series and a 10 crucial points in the ODI Super League process for the 2023 world cup 50 overs to be hosted by India.

Khush Dil Shah lived up to his big hitting carted 4 sixes in his 23 balls -41 not out. Three successive in Romario Shepherds 47 over before Muhammad Nawaz hit winning six in the final over.

Azam generously handed his man of the match award to Khush Dil Shah.

" I want to give the award to him for his outstanding knock " said Baber Azam. We planned the chase and shows the intent which goes to our favour.

West indies Skipper Nicholas Pooran praised his team. Getting 300 plus in a tough conditions was a great effort "said Pooran ." I am proud of the guys although the result did not go in our favour but that's cricket.

Azam added 103 for the second wicket  with Imam ul Haq who score 71 ball 65 runs after opener Fakhar Zaman fell for 11.

Haq hits six boundaries before he gave an easy catch failing to keep a reverse sweep down off spinner  Akeal Hosein. 

Azam had knocked two hundreds in Pakistans last two ODIS against Australia in March -April this year.

He also smashed three hundred in an ODI Series against West indies in united Arab Emirates in 2016.

Former Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakara hit four consecutive in as many matches lead the chart with nine other batsman have three consecutive centuries one each.

Earlier West indies who won the toss and they electing to bat first gave a good target of 306.

Opener Shai Hope 134 ball-127 take west Indian to a good total. Hope racked up 4000 ODI runs.

Fast bowler Haris Rauf 4-77 ended hope,s knock. Brooks scored a polished 83 ball -70 runs with seven boundaries.

West
